EXPAND FIBER 

ExpandFibre is an R&D collaboration and an Ecosystem launched by Fortum and Metsä Group to accelerate the development of sustainable bioproducts.

BIOCOLOUR PROJECT:
The BioColour research project is developing new methods for the production and use of biochemicals. The research focuses on the entire production chain of dyes, as well as the cultural, social and ethical aspects related to biochemicals. The multidisciplinary project led by the University of Helsinki has experts from ten research units and is funded by the Strategic Research Council. We work closely with the Biocolour project. ( HAMK, University of Helsinki, University of Eastern Finland, Aalto University, North Carolina State University, University of Campinas, Natural Resources Center and Technology Research Center VTT)


BRIGHTPLUS
Natural Indigo Finland and Brightplus are long-term partners in utilising natural colours and industrial by-products in biomaterials and water-based coatings. Natural Indigo Finland provides Brightplus with natural colours and industrial by-products that give functional BrightBio® biomaterials and coatings beautiful natural colour tones. Naturally coloured materials can be used for a variety of purposes as the material properties can be optimized according to specific applications. LAPPAJÄRVI DYEING PLANT 
It is important for us to meet the criteria of the production chain and act responsibly, so we want to favor nearby companies. Cooperation with the Lappajärvi dyeing plant is very important for us. This allows us to deliver dyed products directly to the consumer.

HEREWEAR
“The use of bio-based materials as well as reuse and recycling are emerging practices in the textile sector. The EU funded HEREWEAR project aims at the creation of a European ecosystem for locally produced circular textiles and clothing made from biobased resources.” Natural Indigo Finland is part of the HEREWEAR community.  


PRINTSCORPIO
Cooperation with Printscorpio is very important for us. This enables us to deliver products printed in Natural Colors directly to the consumer.


MARIMEKKO
Natural Indigo Finland and Marimekko started their cooperation on natural dyes in 2019. Marimekko's fabric printing plant in Herttoniemi, Helsinki, has tested the properties of various colors, such as colorfastness. Marimekko's first clothes, bags, and household products printed in natural colors came on the market in the summer of 2021.

YOUNG FINNISH DESIGN
Young Finnish Design agency connects manufacturers and emerging Finnish designers in order to bridge the gap between these two industries and to help them cooperate!


VEHVILÄINEN
We work closely with Vehviläinen, a specialist in onion production. We utilize the by-products of onion production. Here you will find toner concentrates for both red and yellow onions.


ARELA
We are happy to work with Arela. Arela manufactured the first commercial products with Natural Indigo Finland's color woad in the spring of 2021.


KRISTA VIRTANEN DESIGN
Our company wants to encourage Finnish design. Our collaborating has been valuable with Krista Virtanen Design. Example refreshing our visual integrity and testing new natural dyes. 


VÄLITILA STUDIO 
Välitila Studio is a rental workspace in Helsinki that specializes in various textile technologies. The intermediate space also offers various expert services related to dyeing and printing methods.
